On Thursday 20 June, the municipal administration in Sandweiler distributed an “Aktuell” to all mailboxes in which the college of aldermen accuses CSV Sandweiler of systematically conducting opposition. Furthermore, the college of aldermen accuses the CSV Sandweiler of spreading false information regarding the future park, e.g. the lack of a playground.
CSV Sandweiler maintains what it has written and distributed in recent weeks. The plan, which was presented at the municipal council meeting on 23 May 2024 by an employee of “Ernst&Partners”, had:
- no playground for all children
- no fitness equipment specially designed for senior citizens, despite the park’s proximity to the seniors’ flats opposite the Centre Culturel
- no rolling area for the little ones, ideal for their first experiences on a scooter or a balance bike
- no access for people with reduced mobility from as many directions as possible
- no garden for the crèche on the opposite side
- no yoga area
The point about the missing playground in particular, which caused most of the discussion, was not only taken up by CSV Sandweiler in publications, but also by the opposition colleagues from “déi gréng” and in an article in “Wort” about the relevant meeting. It can be read as follows:
Die hauptsächlichen Unterschiede betreffen eine geringere Ausstattung an Spielmöglichkeiten für Kinder sowie eine vergrößerte Grünfläche mit Blumenwiesen. Statt Spielgeräte werden bodenebene Schachfelder vorgesehen sowie Tischtennisplatten. Vor allem im unteren Teil neben dem Hentzenhaus sind keinerlei Infrastrukturen vorgesehen.

Chess fields and table tennis tables do not make a playground. Unfortunately, the college of aldermen did not publish the plans of 23 May 2024 and did not make them available to the municipal councillors for study and copying, as stipulated in article 13* of the municipal law.
The absence of important elements from the 2022 concept, which was drawn up with the involvement of citizens and voted on democratically, was not only noted by the CSV. In addition to the 3 CSV councillors, the meeting was also attended by the 2 councillors from “déi gréng”, 2 sworn municipal officials, a press representative and the 3 councillors from LSAP/DP. The public area was also well attended and was able to have a look at the plans.
Is this “Aktuell” by the municipality a sign that the college of aldermen is giving up to pressure from citizens and the CSV and revising its plans from 23 May?
Is the college of aldermen trying to present the CSV as liars after the later publication of revised plans, this time with a playground? How else would it be possible to explain why the majority are opposing the publication of the 23 May plans with all their strength and are not making them available to the councillors?

As for the unproven accusation that the CSV Sandweiler is only in opposition, please refer to our archive where you can read about the questions, amendments and points on the agenda with which the CSV is constructively involved in local politics in the interests of the citizens.
Do you want to avoid making bad judgements and decisions? Call on the college of aldermen to publish the plans that were presented on 23 May. Only an informed citizen can make good judgements. The CSV Sandweiler informs the citizens as best it can. In anticipation of the presentation meeting, the plan of 23 May could easily be published so that every citizen can prepare for this presentation meeting.

*Art. 13.
Sauf le cas d’urgence, la convocation se fait par écrit et à domicile au moins cinq jours avant celui de la réunion. Elle mentionne le lieu, le jour et l’heure de la réunion, en contient l’ordre du jour et est publiée par voie d’affiches apposées dans la commune de la manière usuelle ainsi que sur le site internet de la commune.
Aucun objet étranger à l’ordre du jour ne peut être mis en discussion, sauf dans les cas d’urgence. L’urgence est déclarée par la majorité des membres présents. Leurs noms sont inscrits au procès-verbal.
Tout objet d’intérêt communal qu’un membre du conseil communal demande au bourgmestre de faire figurer à l’ordre du jour du conseil doit y être porté par le collège des bourgmestre et échevins, pour autant que la demande motivée a été faite par écrit et trois jours au moins avant la date de la réunion du conseil.
Pour chaque point à l’ordre du jour, les documents, actes et pièces afférents peuvent être consultés, sans déplacement, par les membres du conseil à la maison communale durant le délai prévu à l’alinéa 1er du présent article. Il peut en être pris copie, le cas échéant contre remboursement.
