No more playgrounds at the Centre Culturel!

And why is that?

One of our municipality’s most popular playgrounds should be a thing of the past.

Why won’t the Council of Aldermen allow children to play in the new park?

Doesn’t the College of Aldermen want any noise from children playing in the centre of Sandweiler?
Why doesn’t the new majority want all generations to enjoy the park together?

A quick recap:
In April 2022, the previous municipal approved a project for a park for all generations, with plenty of play equipment for our children.
An attractive leisure area for everyone, young and old.
Where children can play and have fun together, where they can meet new people, where older people can socialise and chat together and where everyone can spend a few pleasant hours together.
These plans were achieved through a participatory process involving the citizens of our municipality.

But why?

Why is the new DP/LSAP majority now presenting a new project to the municipal council two years later, under the leadership of the mayor Jacqueline Breuer (LSAP).

The park for all generations, for young and old, is going to become a park with no games or entertainment for children. All the children’s play equipment disappeared from the plan and was replaced by just 2 chess sets and 2 table tennis tables.

Why is this?

To date, the council of aldermen has yet to explain why the park is now virtually empty.
Only Mr Claude Mousel (DP), first alderman and future mayor, has given the following answer to the local council:
‘We want to build a park, not a cruise ship!’
For CSV Sandweiler, a playground is certainly not a luxury.
We have asked the council of aldermen to ask the residents what type of variant residents and especially our children want.
A park for everyone, but above all with superb playground equipment for our children, or: a park in the centre of the village with neither heart nor soul.
Our point was postponed indefinitely with the votes of the majority, while the work continued.

Why not have a citizens’ poll?

Is the Council of Aldermen afraid that the public will be in favour of maintaining a play area in the new park?
We would be delighted if you would join us in the next few weeks to preserve this playground in the centre of Sandweiler!
